The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

i never thought this is real good. great i should say. Khaled describes life in Afghanistan and Pakistan the way readers from other parts of the world can understand. good job.

a book that talks about true friendship, father-son relationship, love, loyalty, hardships of life as Afghan people, status quo, secrets and betrayals.

if you'll ask me if i would recommend this book, my answer is DEFINITELY! but there are some parts of the book where i am forced to stop myself reading and take some time to breathe. i'm kinda emotional when i read and i feel what the characters feels. and those where the scenes where i felt a heavy heart. like crying. like screaming.

something that happened and you don't want to discuss with the other party. causing for a very stable relationship to slowly have cracks and eventually breaks. causing pain not just to you but for other people as well. Silence do kills.

here are some of the quotes from the book that i like most:

"There is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft. Do you understand that?"
"No Baba jan"
"When you kill a man, you steal a life. You steal his wife's right to a husband, rob his children of a father. When you tell a lie, you steal someone's right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness. Do you see"

"For you a thousand times over!"

"A boy who won't stand up for himself becomes a man who can't stand up to anything."

"It always hurts more to have and lose than to not have in the first place."

- Tashakor! (means Thank you)

btw, even in this book, Filipino does exists. see:
